Carp
Carp is a popular game fish that can be found in a variety of freshwater bodies, including Lake Bled. They are known to grow to large sizes in Slovenia, with some individuals reaching weights of up to 30 kg or more. They can be caught using a variety of techniques, including bottom fishing, zig fishing, and surface casting.
Catfish
The largest freshwater fish in Slovenia can be also found in Lake Bled. They are known for their distinctive whisker-like barbels and can grow to impressive sizes of up to 3 metres in length. Catfish are generally caught using techniques such as spinning, ground fishing or float fishing.
Pike
Also known as Northern Pike, these are a type of fish known for their sharp teeth and predatory habits. They have an olive green colour and can grow quite large, reaching up to 130 cm in length and weighing over 20 kg. They tend to prefer calm, peaceful waters like lakes and ponds, and can often be found in the middle to lower sections of rivers. In Slovenia, the Pike season runs from May to January.
